The COMBINEDBrain Biorepository supports neurological research by coordinating the collection, storage, and distribution of biospecimens from individuals with rare neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders, as well as healthy participants. We provide shared infrastructure that enables Patient Advocacy Groups to collect and manage samples from their communities, while allowing qualified researchers to access well-documented specimens through a structured and transparent process.
Our Model
Samples in the COMBINEDBrain Biorepository are collected in partnership with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs), which represent the communities contributing specimens. All collections occur under an Institutional Review Board (IRB)–approved protocol to ensure ethical oversight and participant protections.
PAGs retain ownership of samples collected through their programs, while COMBINEDBrain provides centralized infrastructure to coordinate collection logistics, operational standards, storage partnerships, and research access management. Sample requests are reviewed to ensure alignment with participant consent and community priorities before distribution.
