Development
Initiatives

COMBINEDBrain supports research initiatives that move scientific discoveries closer to therapies for rare neurodevelopmental disorders. By connecting patient advocacy groups, researchers, and industry partners, COMBINEDBrain helps translate emerging biological insights into studies that explore potential treatment strategies, therapeutic targets, and clinical applications.

Through coordinated collaborations, shared data resources, and access to patient-derived biospecimens, COMBINEDBrain enables research programs that evaluate therapeutic opportunities and generate evidence needed for future clinical development. These efforts help bridge the gap between early discovery research and the next stages of translational and clinical investigation.

Drug Repurposing

Drug repurposing focuses on identifying existing medicines that may provide therapeutic benefit for rare neurological disorders. Because these compounds have already undergone safety testing, repurposing can significantly reduce the time needed to evaluate potential treatments. COMBINEDBrain works with Unravel Biosciences to support drug repurposing and drug development for rare neurological disorders.

Observational Studies

Observational studies help researchers understand how rare neurological disorders affect individuals over time. By analyzing clinical histories, patient-reported outcomes, and biological samples, investigators can better characterize disease progression and variability. COMBINEDBrain facilitates these studies by coordinating data and biospecimen resources across participating communities.

Scientific Collaborations

Scientific progress in rare disease research depends on strong collaboration between patient communities, clinicians, researchers, and industry partners. COMBINEDBrain helps enable these partnerships by connecting stakeholders and supporting shared access to data, biospecimens, and research expertise. These collaborations accelerate discovery and expand opportunities for translational research.

Precompetitive Research

Precompetitive research brings together organizations to generate foundational datasets, tools, and knowledge that benefit the broader research community. In this model, stakeholders collaborate in an open environment before proprietary development begins. COMBINEDBrain supports initiatives that enable large-scale data generation and cross-disorder scientific insight.
